The story begins with a vintage loving 15 year old buying bargains from charity shops and selling her wares online. A couple of years later this developed into a full time occupation and Velvet Cave was born. The shop's name comes from a song by 1960s experimental psychedelic band Silver Apples and seemed perfect considering my love of the era and obsession with velvet.
Now 7 years on, I'm still hunting high and low for hand picked vintage treasures which adhere to the shop's unique 60s & 70s inspired aesthetic. We have also now branched out into selling our own handmade vintage inspired designs, primarily in velvet fabrics. This wouldn't be possible without the help of my Nan who helps bring my designs to life and is the shop's other dressmaker. Each garment is handmade with great care before being beautifully packaged in 100% recyclable materials and sent out to you. Operating from our base in Stoke Newington, London, we send all over the world.
All modelling is done by myself and friends or acquaintances, who love the clothes just as much as me. Offering several customisable options means customers come away with an item that fits perfectly and they are 100% happy with. We believe in keeping that personal touch and adding that extra magic whilst still keeping our clothing affordable. By buying our recycled vintage and highly limited edition handmade designs, you are not only getting something unique but environmentally friendly and ethically produced.
